It’s been about 3 years since John and team completed our pool. Without question, the outcome is exactly what we wanted— something unique that almost makes us not desire a luxury hotel with a personal pool because we have it at home. The process was mostly smooth. One of the few 3rd parties John used did some sloppy work due to some unfortunate personnel changes and John personally continued to press them to get it right. It took 2 attempts over about 1.5 years to get it just right. Some pool company owners perhaps would have settled for good enough, but John ensured it was done according to the vision he and I agreed on. Very much appreciated.

John Pack Custom Pools built a large pool and cabana/outside living space project for our family in our previously unfinished backyard. After a few meetings with John to discuss the details of the pool we envisioned, John created a computerized artistic rendition of what we communicated to him to capture our ideas. The pool is 40x20 feet with a depth from 3.5 to 7 feet and also features the following: three water sheers; a Paramount in-floor pool cleaner; a 21-ft swim up bar (in the deep end); beautiful tilework at the water's edge; an Aqua Blue Pebbletec finish; Intellibrite LED pool/spa lights; chipped lueder stone pool/spa coping; a spa with two JetPaks; a deck of travertine pavers with a separate colored-concrete sun deck and lueder stairs leading to a separate deck of travertine pavers. John coordinated with his team of masons to create a privacy stone wall and separate cabana and a certified electrician to provide plenty of detailed lighting within the cabana. The stone and roof of the cabana matches the house perfectly. Two large, heavy wooden gates were also constructed to provide entrances to the pool/deck area. The cabana and stone walls were designed with three faux windows of textured stucco, adding to the artistic beauty of the project. Cabana features include the following: fireplace with mesquite mantle with area above for TV and lueder stone hearth with area for an extra-large Big Green Egg grill; granite countertop with sink, cabinet, refrigerator adjacent to the swim-up bar with LED rope lights highlighting underneath the bar; tongue-in-groove vaulted cedar ceiling with uplighting and ceiling fan. In addition, John designed this with an extensive plan for yard drainage and coordinated with his landscape division to provide not only beautiful, privacy landscaping around the pool, but also ensured the appropriate drainage around our pool and backyard.
He takes great care in pleasing the customer. In the construction process at one point, he was not happy with the way something looked and knew that a certain small aspect of the design would not be very functional (and perhaps troublesome) for us in the future - something we would not have noticed at the time of construction. He explained the problem and figured out a better solution. The end result was something better than what we originally had planned. This was quite a project, and due to the tedious work of John Pack and his team that has worked together for over 15 years, we have a customized, high-quality/low-maintenance pool and spa with a beautiful cabana and backyard. With John's vast experience in the pool business, his suggestions and design ideas enhanced the project. He demonstrated to us numerous times that he cared about the construction of our pool as if it were his own. His dedication and experience made the construction process for us almost seamless.

"John has an amazing eye for design..."
We spoke with 3 pool builders when starting the process. I won't mention the names of the other 2 but we were quite unimpressed by their designs and the lack of interest in working with us to tweak or customize the designs. This was definitely not the case with Pack Pools. All of the companies had an initial contact where someone came out, spoke to us about what we wanted and how we wanted the layout and look. The difference was that John’s designer actually listened and nailed 90% of our asks where the other companies seemed like they just pulled a stock design out of a book. The last 10% of our perfect pool came from the man himself, John Pack. John has an amazing eye for design and can recognize possible future pitfalls from poor design choices. He took the original design, tweaked it based on our input and his experience and we ended up with not only a fantastic pool but a great outdoor living space. Even better, John is a super nice, stand-up guy that we’re happy to now call a friend.

"The pool still blows me away..."
We selected John to design and build our pool based primarily on finding a quality builder that we could depend on. From the first visit, we felt a connection with him and his team. He skillfully and patiently elicited the desired features we wanted out of the pool and then returned with a design that blew us away. As the team worked diligently to build the pool, even though I had seen the drawings, I was beside myself happy as it came to life. The team was dedicated to quality and also the sanctity of things around the house, namely my puppies assisting in doing things that limited their time in the kennel yet not compromising on quality in any fashion. Although we had some obstacles to overcome, John and his team worked closely with us to resolve them which was the #1 reason for choosing him. The pool still blows me away and I am often called inside by my wife as I stand out there in the evenings simply admiring it. I even polar bear'ed a couple of times this winter just because I couldn't wait to get in! The in-floor cleaner is a must!

John Pack is an expert at designing and building complex pools and cabanas. We interviewed several pool contractors who would build us a pool at ground level. However, our property slopes down from the road to a tributary of Lake Georgetown and a ground level pool would have been 10 to 15 feet below our back porch. We were interested in a pool with an infinity edge and built up near the level of our house so we could enjoy the view from the pool and cabana areas.
One of the contractors actually recommended Pack Pools for such a design since John has significant experience and understands the engineering requirements of building a pool so much above grade. After we met John we were not only convinced he could do the job, but he worked with us over several weeks with multiple visits to his office and our house, to design us a pool and cabana that was beyond our imagination.
John's construction techniques, materials and equipment are all top notch. We were amazed at the thickness and amount of rebar used to ensure the strength and longevity of the various structures. We were also impressed that John used stone vs. sand to build up the pool structures so there's no chance of settling and cracking over time. John communicated with us constantly and helped us understand the various steps of construction, as well as helping us decide on the many choices that needed to be made as the project progressed. John is a pleasure to work with, easy to talk to, and there is simply no denying the skill and expertise he brings to the pool business.
We ended up with an amazing pool and cabana area, perfect for quiet relaxation or raucous parties. Our pool is over 2 years old now and we've had absolutely no problems. We still enjoy watching our guests jaws drop as they walk out of our house and see our fabulous infinity pool and the view over the trees of Lake Georgetown.

John has just recently completed our pool/outdoor living project and words cannot describe how pleased my wife and I are with the results. John met with us, took our thoughts and ideas, and created a masterpiece. The attention to detail and customer service are something that is a rare find these days with any contractor. The fact that John employs his own workers rather than just random sub-contractors, enables his employees to be invested in the project and to care about the results.
A few years ago, at a previous residence, I had a pool commissioned by a different pool builder and the results were dramatically different. The old saying " you get what you pay for" definitely rang true with the previous pool builder, and I was pleasantly surprised with the professionalism displayed by John and his team on this project.
I would highly recommend John Pack Pools to anyone who desires a high quality piece of art that will flow with your home, rather than just a "cookie cutter" pool with no creative thought that other competitors in the area produce.

John and his staff were unbelievably helpful through the entire process. Any additions or subtractions I asked for were taken care of with no problem. I had an idea of what I wanted but through meetings with John and his staff ended up with a much better and enjoyable project than I wanted. "I can't say enough good things about John Pack pools."
We had John design and build our pool 3 years ago and we are still loving our backyard oasis. When we first considered building a pool we contacted several different companies and weren't impressed with the hard sell technics they used. By chance I saw one of Johns service trucks while on my way home and contacted his office , we scheduled an appointment and John showed up without any brochures or contracts, it seemed he wanted to get to know us to get a better feel of what we would like after all it is a big investment and we appreciated that. He spent a few weeks with us showing pools he had built to get a feel of what we would like, which I think is a great way to see the quality of work, and different designs that might interest you that you can't get by looking at a photo album. After getting to know us and seeing what we were looking for in a pool John came up with several designs for us to choose from, again he told us to look them over and if we had any different ideas to let him know with no pressure. When we finally decided on a design he introduced us to his crew and they started the construction and finished in a timely manner. One other plus with using Pack pools is that they do everything in house a lot of pool companies are just designers and sublet all the work to other companies that can sometimes be a problem if the design company doesn't pay the contractors then your stuck with an unfinished project in your backyard. After construction was finished with our pool John showed us how to use all the pool equipment and when we had trouble remembering how certain things worked he was more than happy to come by and help us out. It's been 3 years since John Pack finished our pool and we are more than pleased with workmanship, quality, and service we received. I highly recommend anyone thinking of building a pool or spa to consider Pack pools before any other company.
